Challenge

Challenge

A recently retired engineer had an appointment scheduled with an independent financial adviser in two months' time. He held documents from four pension sources and was concerned he would arrive at the meeting not knowing what questions to ask or even what figures he was looking at. His adviser had suggested he familiarise himself with his documents beforehand.

Service Used

Attended a Pension Briefing focused on the document types he held. The session was built around the general formats of the four scheme types rather than the contents of his specific documents. Printed notes were prepared covering key vocabulary and section descriptions for each type.

Outcome

Attended the subsequent financial adviser meeting feeling prepared. Described arriving knowing what each document section referred to and being able to follow the conversation from the start rather than asking for frequent explanations. The adviser reportedly commented that he had come well-prepared.
